Colorado Road Trip

For the long Labor Day weekend Erin flew out to Colorado to hang out with Allison, Kim and their friends.  We were invited to her friend's ranch - basically a 2,000 plus acre mountainside.  Needless to say it was beautiful!
We drove through a lot of Colorado starting with a drive from Denver to Aspen for a concert.  Along for the trip was Allison, Erin, Kim (Alli's room mate) and Leah and Rachel (two of their friends in Denver who also moved to Colorado from California.)  We stopped at the top of Independence Pass.

The next part of the journey took us from Aspen to the "ranch" near Gunnison, CO.  We spent all of our time in the great outdoors and had a lot of fun ATVing all over the property.

A group shot of everyone at the top of a cliff on one of our hikes.

We also explored an actual bear cave on the property.  Thankfully there were no bears around!

It was great to be out in the wilderness.  It was very remote - we never saw anyone other than our group the entire weekend and had no cell phone reception or internet!

Another hike that shows the beautiful blue skies and green trees everywhere!

In the words of SNL Will Ferrell, "simply stunning!"

We also went fishing.  Allison caught quite a few fish, including this good looking one.  Some of us struggled a little bit more with unhooking, catching and releasing our fish.  Let's just say that fishing might not be Erin's best sport.

Kim also caught and unhooked her own fish.  She was extremely brave the entire time!

And the beautiful aspen groves that were everywhere.  Did you know that an aspen grove is all ONE organism?  Making it the largest organism in the world.

Thanks Alli and all for a great outdoorsy weekend!
