A Better Google Maps

A little while ago Google made it possible for anybody to "hack" their map site. A very smart move since people were going to try it anyway. By allowing this, Google puts the creativity of users to work (and they don't have to pay them!). Here are a couple of the hacks.

Komplete Konfabulation

I just can't get enough of these search companies buying really cool software and giving it to users for free (think Picasa and Keyhole). Here is another one to add to the list...Konfabulator. It was purchased last week by Yahoo! and is now free. There are thousands of Widgets that you can download along with it. Click here.

Organize your Photos!

We all have this problem... we have thousands of photos on our hard drive and don't have a great way to organize them. May I suggest downloading Picasa 2. It is a wonderful little program produced by Google. You will love the searching capabilities as well as the back up features. Plus, emailing photos is a cinch. Click here.

Back Up Your DVDs for Free!

This is a great little utility to back up your DVDs. I find it useful to make the DVDs that I own Region Free (meaning they will play on any DVD player). It is a good idea to use this for those DVDs that you watch often since they are prone to scratch. Just make a copy and watch the copy and leave the original in good condition. Bear in mind that this is totally legal as long as you own the DVD you are copying. Click here!
